Many people have asked me how they can get more traffic to their blogs. Obviously some will bring more than others, but the key is to get many different traffic streams going and leverage them all.
So below I’ve listed the different ways that I get traffic to this blog:
Direct hits – These come from sending emails to my different lists
Forum Traffic – I’m a member of quite a few forums, so a good amount of traffic comes from those.
Search Engine Rankings – This is traffic I get from being ranked in different places for keywords. This is always cool traffic to see because it’s very targeted.
Articles - I have various articles on many of the different article directories and that brings in some decent traffic each month
Rss Feeds – Each post I put up is pinged and I submit the rss feed to the different rss aggregators. This doesn’t bring much, but it does bring some
Videos – Again, I put up a few video’s pointing back to this blog and that brings in some traffic as well.
Blog Comments – I regularly leave blog comments on other people’s blogs and that brings in some decent targeted traffic
Twitter – This is a easy way to get traffic to anywhere you want it if you have a big enough following.
Paid Advertisements – I use different things like banner adds and services like List Auction that sends some decent traffic here as well.
Put them all together and they equal some decent traffic. It’s all about getting it in different ways and having your eggs in more than one basket. The more you do each one of these, the more traffic you get. The key is to not expect to see crazy results in the first few weeks. These things build over time, just like your business will

Bryan-
Very informative post! I would love to see some statistics or graphs to see what these have done for your site overall. Your post reminded me that I need to ping my feeds out. As with Paul Teague, we both have had some traffic come from JV Giveaways through the text ads. You may want to look into that!
Jerry
Hey Jerry,
Thanks for stopping by!
Here’s the statistics for you: Total hits from May 7th-June 7th as of right now: 800
Direct Traffic – 282
List Auction – 223
Forums – 102
Blog Link Referrals – 24
Search Engines – 29
Twitter – 6
The other 400 hits comes from quite a few other places. Couple hits here, couple hits there. There was in all total 100 different places this blog got traffic from.
In reality, I could have got a ton more traffic to the blog itself, but all my articles, vidoes and most of everything else point to the main domain that is the opt-in page.
I’ve done a few JV give aways and they are good. I’m just busy working on getting the Newbie U all finished up and then I’ll get back into those again
Hey Bryan,
Great ways to drive traffic, I am getting a ton of traffic from twitter so I would highly recommend using it.
Sally
Hey Sally,
Twitter is great for traffic numbers, I’ve only recently started to actually use it some. I got burnt out on the social sites like myspace and facebook a while back and just never really got into twitter to much.
Hi Brian
You’re right it is a patience game, most things that claim floods of overnight traffic generally bring more trouble than they are worth
My recent experiment with this was a lesson in point, never before have I been bombarded with so many get rich quick schemes in a 24 hour period
So lesson learnt they come one at a time not in tides of thousands, I had to shut the account down to stop it coming, once bitten!
Thanks Tony
Hey Tony,
I hear ya on the “flood” of stuff coming at people that claim over night riches. Anyone who’s been at this for any amount of time knows it just doesn’t work that way.
Not unless your Frank Kerns brother and can get him to do a mailing for your first product! LOL.
Hey Bryan,
I really like your blog layout. When people reply is now we begin to communicate. Asking questions can start a conversation. What theme are you using? The payoff is more traffic.
Thanks for the Tips
Steven
Hey Steven,
To be honest, I don’t know that name of this theme. A friend of mine sent it to me and I just uploaded it. I’ve got some changes being made to it as we speak, so here soon hopefully it will be more “branded” than it is right now.
Short and to the point; I love that!
Thanks
Hey Eliezer,
Glad you liked it:) I wasn’t really in the mood to make a long drawn out post about it. Each one of the different traffic models could be a product on their own.
Hi Bryan,
Thank you for a great post. It is a good summary of how to drive traffic to a blog. It reminded me that it is useful to participate in other forums as well. Keep up the good work. Which theme are you using? I am looking for ways to change my font in my widget area.
Cheers for now.
Hey Catherine,
Thanks for stopping by!
Forums can be great for traffic and there are quite a few of them out there that really do get a good bit of participation.
As I told Steven a couple posts up, I’m not really sure what theme this is. A friend of mine sent it to me and thought I would like it, but it’s got some customization on it from the original and much more to come.
Hi bryan,
I’m using a lot of these particular methods to drive traffic to my site. I’ve started using twitter in the last few weeks. I’m gradually growing a following which is pretty satisfying
Hey Bryan,
Thanks for the useful summary of traffic. I’ve grabbed a few good tips and good reminders of the extra steps I need to take to get the traffic flowing.
Your info is great – I really liked your article report it was easy to read and I am implementing it now.
Cheers
Alina
Hey Bryan,
You have covered most of them here. You have been working hard I can see. Your article report was also really good. Thanks for sharing with us.

Hi Brian,
A very comprehensive blog traffic post. Can I suggest another very cool way: Lijit.com
Giofranco
Hi Bryan
Very good post and some interesting ideas.
I find articles are very good for me but I get loads of visitors to my blog from Stumble.
Social Media sites like Stumble, Technorati and Digg can bring in lots of visitors in a short space of time and should be considered.
Good post
James
